Ticog is a special reed grass which grows in swampy areas along rice fields and has solid, jointless, and usually triangular stems. The century-old tradition of mat weaving in Basey starts with gathering of stems and bleaching it under the sun for several days. Dried leaves will be dyed and then weaved into mats, bags, hats, foot wears, etc.
